High or Low, when cycling to build muscle?
Should I use a team of high or low speed when cycling? I'm trying to tone legs and gain muscle, you work harder? I assume full swing, because his legs work harder to push, but IDK.
The muscle the building (the largest muscles) and muscle tone are actually two different objectives. If these are your primary goals, weight training is probably the best use of your time. But if you want to do this on the bike, then you need to make two different types of exercise. For toning, spinning at a good cadence (85-95 rpm) for at least 30 minutes at a moderate intensity on a regular basis (4 + days / week) will help a lot. For strength building, however, this short, efforts very intense. 3.5 Essentially all out, maximum effort sprints for about 10 seconds, preferably while sitting and start at a low speed (completely before to another Sprint). These few words, the muscles require maximum efforts to push as hard as they can generate and it is this kind of efforts leading to muscle hypertrophy (enlargement). Riding in a large development at a low cadence during extended periods will cause only minor muscle hypertrophy.
